German authorities warn of persistent hybrid warfare following the discovery of an explosive drone near Ukrainian cargo planes at Leipzig/Halle Airport.

German authorities and security experts have issued renewed warnings regarding hybrid threats following the discovery of an explosive-rigged drone at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Federal prosecutors suspect the device, located near Ukrainian cargo aircraft carrying ammunition, was intended to detonate.

Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that foreign powers are attempting to destabilize the country through espionage, cyberattacks, and covert sabotage. Commenting on the ongoing security challenges, Dobrindt noted, "we are not at war, but we are daily targets for hybrid warfare."

Terrorism analyst Peter Neumann suggested that foreign state involvement is likely given the target and operational method, pointing to Russia as a primary suspect. Federal investigators continue to examine potential foreign links to the attempted attack.
