French emergency services have contained a wildfire in Aude as official records show 115,000 hectares burned nationwide this year.

French emergency services have brought several wildfires under control, though response teams remain active across vulnerable regions. In the Aude department, firefighters contained a 100-hectare blaze in Montséret within the Corbières massif after a rapid deployment of 240 personnel and ten aircraft. A separate fire in nearby Puilaurens remains active at 225 hectares due to difficult terrain.

Conditions have stabilized elsewhere. Fires in the Var department are extinguished, though authorities restricted public access to seven forest areas due to high risk. In Gironde, where the main wildfire is no longer advancing, Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu plans to visit on August 17 to initiate reconstruction efforts. Official data shows wildfires have burned over 115,000 hectares across France this year.
