Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called on Kyiv to begin administrative preparations for future national elections, despite martial law continuing to prohibit wartime voting.

Fedorov, who was removed from his post by President Volodymyr Zelensky in July, argued that early administrative planning is vital to overcome substantial logistical obstacles prior to any eventual vote. Key hurdles include organizing voting mechanisms for frontline military personnel, millions of internally displaced persons, and Ukrainians living abroad.

While President Zelensky's administration maintains that holding elections remains unfeasible amid active fighting, Fedorov stressed that advance operational steps are required to preserve democratic integrity and ensure readiness once security conditions allow.
