Finnish President Alexander Stubb rejected claims that Russia could attack NATO by 2029, though security officials warn of rising hybrid threats.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has expressed skepticism regarding warnings from German intelligence that Russia could be prepared to attack NATO territory by 2029. Speaking to German newspaper Bild, Stubb stated there are "neither evidence nor facts" indicating Moscow intends to strike the alliance, adding he could not imagine Russia targeting the world's strongest military bloc. However, he emphasized that member states must remain prepared for worst-case scenarios to maintain effective deterrence.

While Stubb played down the likelihood of a direct conventional invasion, European security agencies and intelligence chiefs across Poland, Finland, and the Baltic states continue to report a sharp rise in Russian hybrid warfare, espionage, and sabotage operations. In response, regional allies are reinforcing defensive readiness and expanding joint military support.
