Finnish President Alexander Stubb has dismissed warnings that Russia could attack NATO by 2029, while stressing that allies must remain prepared for hybrid threats.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has questioned forecasts suggesting Russia could be capable of attacking NATO territory by 2029. Speaking to German newspaper Bild, Stubb stated that he sees "neither evidence nor facts" supporting such a timeline, adding that he cannot imagine Moscow attacking the Western military alliance.

While doubting a direct conventional military assault, Stubb emphasized that NATO members must remain fully prepared for all potential scenarios to ensure effective deterrence. Meanwhile, European intelligence officials and nations along NATO's eastern flank—including Poland, Finland, and the Baltic states—report escalating Russian hybrid operations, sabotage, and espionage activities. These ongoing non-conventional threats have prompted heightened defense cooperation and elevated military readiness across the region.
