Finnish president dismisses forecasts of Russian attack on NATO by 2029

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has rejected warnings from German officials suggesting Russia could launch a direct military assault on NATO territory by 2029.

Speaking to the German newspaper Bild, Stubb stated there is "neither evidence nor facts" to support predictions of an imminent conventional conflict, adding he cannot imagine Moscow targeting the alliance. However, Stubb cautioned against complacency, emphasizing that member states must remain fully prepared for any scenario to ensure deterrence.

The debate comes as European intelligence agencies and eastern flank nations report increased Russian hybrid operations, sabotage, and espionage across the continent, prompting allies to bolster defense collaboration.
