Finnish president dismisses forecasts of Russian attack on NATO

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has dismissed predictions that Russia could launch a direct attack on NATO by 2029, labeling recent German warnings speculative. Speaking to German media, Stubb remarked that he sees "neither evidence nor facts" indicating Moscow intends to target the alliance. While doubting Russia would challenge NATO directly, he stressed that member nations must maintain high readiness for worst-case scenarios to ensure effective deterrence.

Simultaneously, military analysts warn of rising non-conventional threats across Northern Europe. Defense expert Col. Maciej Korowaj highlighted that Russian forces are actively mapping NATO defense responses in the Baltic Sea to update potential operational plans. He cautioned that the likelihood of regional provocations will increase starting in September, prompting Poland, Finland, and Baltic allies to further strengthen defensive coordination.
