Finnish President Alexander Stubb has rejected claims that Russia could attack NATO by 2029, while stressing the alliance must maintain strong deterrence.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has dismissed suggestions that Russia could launch a direct military attack against NATO by 2029, calling predictions of an impending assault unsupported by evidence. Speaking in an interview with Bild, Stubb addressed recent warnings from German intelligence officials regarding potential Russian capabilities later this decade, stating he sees "neither evidence nor facts" to back such claims.

Despite his skepticism about Moscow challenging the alliance directly, Stubb stressed that NATO members must remain fully prepared for worst-case scenarios to maintain credible deterrence. Security officials across Poland, Finland, and the Baltic states continue to highlight a surge in Russian hybrid activities, espionage, and sabotage across the region. In response, regional partners are strengthening defense cooperation, including Swedish military support for Finland. European intelligence leaders remain engaged in evaluating Kremlin threats as security concerns persist.
