Expectations for interest rate hikes are rising in the US and Sweden as Fed officials and Swedish lenders SBAB and Nordea project tighter monetary policy.

Monetary policy tightening expectations are escalating across the United States and Sweden as inflation risks and economic growth persist.

Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Lorie Logan noted that the U.S. central bank needs to increase short-term interest rates by at least 50 basis points to achieve a "slightly restrictive" policy stance and guide inflation back to its two percent target.

In Sweden, financial institutions are accelerating their rate hike projections for the Riksbank. Commercial lender Nordea adjusted its forecast, expecting the policy rate to reach 2.25 percent earlier than previously anticipated and remain there through December 2028, citing domestic growth and international monetary trends. Meanwhile, state-owned lender SBAB projected three consecutive rate increases, driving the benchmark rate from 1.75 percent to 2.50 percent by February.
