Federal Reserve official urges US rate hikes as Swedish banks adjust Riksbank forecasts
Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan advocates raising US interest rates, while Swedish banks Nordea and SBAB update their forecasts for the Riksbank's benchmark rate.
Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Lorie Logan stated that the US central bank must raise short-term interest rates by a minimum of 0.5 percentage points to achieve a "slightly restrictive" policy stance and guide inflation back toward its 2% target.
Concurrently, Swedish lenders have adjusted their monetary forecasts regarding the Riksbank. Commercial bank Nordea brought forward its projected rate hikes, predicting the benchmark interest rate will reach 2.25% and remain at that level through December 2028 due to accelerating national economic growth and global policy shifts. Meanwhile, state-owned lender SBAB revised its outlook, postponing its expected initial rate increase from November to December, with a subsequent hike anticipated in February.
