Dallas Fed official calls for rate hikes as Nordea adjusts Riksbank outlook
Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Lorie Logan called for further rate increases as Nordea brought forward its interest rate hike predictions for Sweden's Riksbank.
Global monetary policy expectations are shifting as central bankers and analysts project further interest rate increases to curb inflation and respond to economic growth.
Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Lorie Logan stated that the United States central bank needs to raise short-term interest rates by at least 50 basis points. Logan noted that additional tightening is required to render policy "slightly restrictive" and guide inflation back toward the 2 percent target.
Meanwhile, Swedish bank Nordea adjusted its forecast for Sweden's central bank, the Riksbank. Citing a strengthening domestic economy and international rate adjustments, Nordea moved forward its timeline for expected interest rate hikes. The bank projects the Swedish benchmark rate will reach 2.25 percent and remain at that level through December 2028.
