Multiple European nations face dangerous heatwaves, record-breaking temperatures, and thousands of heat-related excess deaths.

Western and Southern Europe continue to experience severe summer conditions as multiple nations report record temperatures and rising mortality figures.

In Italy, health authorities issued red weather alerts for 27 major cities during the country's fourth heatwave of the season, warning of high health risks and temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius. Austria registered its highest temperature on record, with a suburban Vienna station recording 40.8 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, French health officials reported over 7,300 excess deaths linked to 52 heatwave days between May and July. Both France and the United Kingdom are bracing for another wave of intense heat, while several regions globally registered their warmest July on record. Authorities warn that persistent conditions will worsen ongoing drought and wildfire threats across the continent.
