Brussels warned Moscow over security threats in Germany as Russian drone strikes hit Kyiv and Ukraine targeted Russian refineries.

Russian forces launched overnight drone attacks on Kyiv, injuring a civilian, shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the United Nations General Assembly. The strikes coincided with an announcement from Moscow's Defense Ministry outlining a military campaign targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

In response, Ukrainian forces escalated drone strikes against Russian petroleum facilities and refineries, causing domestic supply disruptions that forced Russia to import fuel.

Concurrently, European security concerns heightened after German authorities identified two Moscow-linked suspects in connection with explosive drones discovered near infrastructure in Leipzig. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the European Union "will not tolerate attacks on EU soil" and announced readiness to respond.
