Russian drone strikes hit Kyiv as EU warns Moscow over European sabotage

Russian forces launched fresh overnight drone strikes on Kyiv, injuring at least one civilian following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s address to the UN General Assembly. The attack coincides with an announcement from Moscow of a new campaign specifically targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure ahead of winter.

In response to sustained Russian aggression, Ukrainian forces have expanded long-range drone strikes against oil refineries deep inside Russian territory. These strikes have triggered domestic fuel shortages, forcing Moscow to import petrol.

Concurrently, European security concerns escalated after German investigators identified two suspects linked to Moscow over explosive drone incidents near critical infrastructure in Leipzig. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the bloc "will not tolerate attacks on EU soil" and warned that Brussels remains prepared to respond.
