The European Union extended sanctions against Russia as casualties were reported from cross-border strikes and US President Trump claimed an agreement on energy infrastructure.

The European Union has extended its sanction regime against Russia as combat operations persist on the 1,663rd day of the conflict. Shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region killed two people and injured 14 others, according to local officials. Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone attacks in Russia's Belgorod region and Sochi reportedly wounded seven individuals.

Concurrently, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Moscow and Kyiv have agreed to refrain from targeting energy infrastructure. In Ukrainian domestic politics, President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree dismissing the country's prosecutor general.

Addressing security concerns, EU diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned a Russian attack on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, characterizing it as an attempt to intimidate European partners and foster division.
