EU extends sanctions against Russia following border rail attack

The EU extended sanctions against Moscow following a strike near the Polish border, as U.S. President Donald Trump claimed a deal was made regarding energy targets.
The European Union has renewed its sanctions framework against Russia as military operations continue across Ukraine. Recent Russian shelling in the Kherson region killed two civilians and injured 14 others, while Ukrainian drone strikes in Sochi and Russia's Belgorod region reportedly left seven people wounded.
Amid ongoing hostilities, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Moscow and Kyiv agreed to refrain from targeting energy infrastructure. In Ukrainian domestic affairs, President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree removing the nation's prosecutor general from office.
Simultaneously, EU diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot jointly condemned a Russian attack on a train operating near the Ukrainian-Polish border, describing the strike as an attempt to intimidate European partners and sow division.
