The EU extended sanctions on Russia following a train strike, while Trump claimed Kyiv and Moscow agreed to halt attacks on energy targets.

The European Union has extended sanctions against Moscow after a Russian missile strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU High Representative Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the strike, stating it was designed to "intimidate and divide" European nations.

Meanwhile, military activity persists. Officials in Kherson reported two fatalities and 14 injuries from Russian shelling, while Russian authorities said seven individuals were injured by Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Sochi and the Belgorod region.

These events follow claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that Russia and Ukraine agreed to suspend strikes against energy infrastructure. Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree officially dismissing the nation's prosecutor general.
