Negotiations mediated by Oman over transit through the Strait of Hormuz continue as regional diplomacy advances in Rome and maritime security incidents persist off Yemen.

Diplomatic negotiations mediated by Oman over maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remain underway, with US President Donald Trump suggesting an agreement could be reached soon while likening the dispute to a chess match. Iranian officials have maintained that reopening the strategic waterway requires Washington to lift economic sanctions and provide compensation for damages.

Simultaneously, regional security challenges persist. Reports emerged of an Indian commercial vessel being struck and sunk near the coast of Yemen. Meanwhile, Lebanese and Israeli delegations convened in Rome for a seventh round of bilateral discussions, as the United Nations reported that around 800,000 displaced Lebanese citizens have begun returning to southern areas.
