Diplomatic negotiations mediated by Oman over maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remain underway, with US President Donald Trump suggesting an agreement could be reached soon while likening the dispute to a chess match. Iranian officials have maintained that reopening the strategic waterway requires Washington to lift economic sanctions and provide compensation for damages.

Meanwhile, Lebanese and Israeli delegations convened in Rome for a seventh round of bilateral discussions, as the United Nations reported that around 800,000 displaced Lebanese citizens have begun returning to southern areas.
