Scholar Alpo Rusi has outlined Soviet pressure tactics targeting former Finnish Prime Minister Keijo Liinamaa during the late Cold War era.

Political science scholar Alpo Rusi has detailed Soviet intelligence operations directed against Finnish political leaders during the late Cold War. Writing in a guest column for Iltalehti, Rusi focused on coercive tactics aimed at Keijo Liinamaa, who served as Finland's national conciliator and prime minister before his death in December 1980.

According to Rusi, KGB agents attempted to manipulate industrial labor market negotiations overseen by Liinamaa to create political instability. The strategic aim of these operations was to shape Finland's domestic political environment during the final years of President Urho Kekkonen's tenure. Prior to his death, Liinamaa reported receiving direct threats and pressure from Soviet operatives to diplomatic contacts. The revelations throw further light on covert foreign intervention in Finnish domestic policy during the period.
