CHP leader Özgür Özel criticized the AKP's acquisition of the Üsküdar municipal deputy presidency while addressing Mayor Mansur Yavaş's meeting with President Erdoğan.

Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel has criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) acquisition of the Üsküdar municipal deputy presidency in Istanbul. Speaking at a public rally in Üsküdar and on Koza TV, Özel described the local vote transfer as a dark chapter for Turkish political history and questioned Erdoğan's democratic credentials in a district won by the CHP in recent elections.

Özel also addressed Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş’s recent meeting with Erdoğan. He emphasized that ongoing dialogue between municipal officials and the presidency remains essential for serving public interests and managing civic duties, despite sharp political rivalries.
