Azerbaijan pushes to expand Organization of Turkic States beyond cultural ties

Azerbaijan is working to transform the Organization of Turkic States into a strategic alliance focused on energy, security, and transport corridors across Eurasia.
Azerbaijan is accelerating efforts to transform the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) from a cultural forum into a broad strategic framework. Speaking on Baku's vision for the bloc, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the synchronization of political, transport, security, and energy priorities among member nations across Eurasia.
The strategy focuses on expanding trade transit corridors and energy links to strengthen economic integration and boost the group's global standing. Alongside infrastructure projects, Baku is advocating for closer security cooperation and the preservation of shared national values. By aligning these key sectors, Azerbaijan aims to solidify the OTS as a primary platform for managing geopolitical and economic developments across the region.
