US midterm results could boost European stocks, Barclays says
Barclays strategy chief Emmanuel Cau suggests US midterm election results could drive investor rotation toward European equities despite short-term market volatility.
The outcome of the US midterm elections could generate short-term market volatility while ultimately creating opportunities for European equities, according to an analysis by Barclays. Speaking on Bloomberg Television, Emmanuel Cau, the bank's head of European and APAC equity strategy, indicated that financial markets may experience heightened noise following the vote. However, he noted that conditions could encourage investors to shift capital away from assets that previously benefited from political trades and toward a broader range of global equities. Cau highlighted that this market rotation might increase investor appetite for European stocks in particular.
