Ukrainian troops advance near Kupiansk as Russian forces claim gains near Sumy
Ukrainian forces advance near Kupiansk and Lyman, while Russia claims gains near Sumy and launches strikes in the Kyiv region.
Active fighting continues across multiple sectors of the front line in Ukraine. Ukrainian troops are advancing north of Kupiansk along the right bank of the Oskil River, with authorities expected to announce control over roughly 200 square kilometers in the Lyman sector. Simultaneously, Russian strikes targeted military infrastructure and ammunition depots in the Kyiv region.
Conversely, Russia's Ministry of Defence reported capturing several settlements on the approaches to Sumy. On the southern front, Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the Russian General Staff, publicly rejected claims of Ukrainian gains in the Zaporizhzhia region, insisting Russian lines remain secure amid ongoing frontline engagements.
