Bosnian Serb leader's allies retain power in elections

Allies of pro-Russian Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik preserved their positions following local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dodik, an outspoken opponent of state unity who maintains close relations with Kremlin leadership, attributed the electoral success to political momentum connected to former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Despite facing Western sanctions and legal challenges, Dodik's political bloc retained political leverage across the Serb-majority entity, Republika Srpska. The election results reinforce Dodik's enduring political sway within Bosnia's complex, ethnically divided governance framework, even as Western officials push for institutional reforms and political stability in the region.
