US Supreme Court allows temporary continuation of White House ballroom construction
The US Supreme Court has granted a temporary stay allowing construction on President Donald Trump's $400 million White House ballroom to resume amid ongoing legal challenges.
The United States Supreme Court has temporarily cleared the way for construction to resume on President Donald Trump's planned $400 million White House ballroom.
In a 5–4 decision, the court granted a stay against a lower court injunction that had halted the project. The legal action stems from a suit filed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In an order issued by Chief Justice John Roberts, the conservative majority indicated that the administration has a strong likelihood of prevailing in the legal dispute.
Although the justices emphasized that the order is not a final ruling on the legal merits of the case, the ruling permits structural work on the White House grounds to proceed while the litigation continues.
