Israel rejects US-backed Gaza peace plan as Netanyahu insists on Hamas disarmament
Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a US-backed 15-point Gaza peace proposal, vowing no military withdrawal until Hamas is fully disarmed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally dismissed a US-backed 15-point Gaza peace initiative promoted by President Donald Trump, maintaining that Israeli troops will not pull back until Hamas is completely disarmed.
In televised remarks to his cabinet on Sunday, Netanyahu declared that "Israel rejects the 15-point document" previously accepted by Hamas. He stressed that the military "will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed and will continue to thwart threats."
The refusal highlights deepening friction between Washington and Jerusalem over the roadmap to end the conflict. While US officials presented the framework as a breakthrough toward lasting peace, Netanyahu faces conflicting pressures ahead of general elections set for late October, balancing demands from right-wing coalition allies against diplomatic expectations from the United States.
