Trump claims US and Iran have resumed diplomatic talks
US President Donald Trump announced renewed talks with Iran, while facing domestic legal action over tariffs and low approval ratings ahead of the US midterm elections.
US President Donald Trump announced that Washington has re-engaged in "very friendly" negotiations with Tehran, describing the discussions as a final opportunity for Iran to reach a comprehensive deal following a temporary pause in US and Israeli military actions. Iranian officials, however, previously denied that any diplomatic meetings were occurring or planned.
Concurrently, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth rejected reports claiming that American defense stockpiles have reached critically low levels. Domestically, the administration is confronting legal challenges from multiple US states over newly imposed tariffs, alongside slipping approval ratings in recent polling from The Economist and YouGov ahead of the upcoming November midterm elections.
