Trump announces new Iran talks as Tehran maintains combat readiness
New U.S.-Iran negotiations are scheduled for Monday after President Trump paused a planned attack following requests from Middle Eastern allies.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that new negotiations with Tehran will begin on Monday afternoon after he halted a planned attack on Iran, partly responding to requests from Middle Eastern allies including Saudi Arabia. Trump warned that military operations could resume if a swift agreement is not reached, asserting that the U.S. holds vast ammunition reserves.
The diplomatic opening follows the U.S. military intercepting multiple Iranian ballistic missiles aimed at American forces in the region. Acting Iranian Defence Minister Majid ibn al-Reza stated that Tehran treats all U.S. threats as "real and credible" and remains in full combat readiness. Additionally, Saudi Arabia established a maritime alliance to protect Red Sea shipping, while Asian crude oil prices dropped over five percent on hopes of a diplomatic breakthrough.
