Ukraine targets Russian energy facilities as Russian strikes kill civilians
Ukraine struck Russian energy facilities while Russian attacks killed three in Dnipropetrovsk and injured children in Zaporizhzhia, amid rising UN concern over civilian casualties.
Ukrainian long-range drones targeted Russian energy and export infrastructure, hitting facilities in the Rostov, Yaroslavl, and Udmurtia regions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a strike hit an export terminal approximately 250 kilometers from the frontline. Meanwhile, Moscow authorities reported intercepting 12 drones, which temporarily restricted operations at local airports.
Concurrently, Russian forces launched over 50 drone and artillery strikes across Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, killing three people and injuring six. In Zaporizhzhia, a drone strike on a commercial venue injured four people, including two children.
At a UN Security Council briefing, UN official Kayoko Gotoh cited a sharp surge in Ukrainian civilian casualties during July, reporting at least 56 civilian deaths in Kyiv from continuous strikes.
