Emergency services across Western Europe are combating multiple wildfires as hot and dry weather fuels blazes in Germany and southwestern France.

Emergency services across Western Europe are responding to multiple wildfires amid persistent dry and hot weather. In Germany, a blaze on steep terrain near Schramberg in Baden-Württemberg has expanded, complicating access for ground crews. Along the German-Belgian border, cross-border containment efforts continue in the High Fens nature reserve, with military helicopters providing aerial support after heavy smoke led to precautionary evacuations in Monschau.

Meanwhile, authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia reported significant progress in containing a 300-hectare fire in the Hürtgenwald. In southwestern France, a wildfire in the Landes department scorched over 1,500 hectares of pine forest; although a nighttime flare-up prompted the evacuation of roughly 650 residents, local officials confirmed no residential buildings were damaged.
