US President Trump hosts Chinese leader Xi Jinping for White House talks

US President Donald Trump hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House during Xi's first state visit to the United States in over a decade. Trump extended a rare diplomatic gesture by personally greeting the Chinese leader at his aircraft upon arrival.

The multi-day summit focused on key global security issues, including the war in Ukraine, stability on the Korean Peninsula, and conflict in the Middle East. The talks followed recent requests from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for Washington to urge Beijing to exert influence over Moscow to secure a de-escalation. Observers suggested Beijing might demand economic or geopolitical concessions from Washington in exchange for adjusting its position on Russia.
