U.S. President Donald Trump indicated a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is near, as regional tensions persist alongside ongoing diplomatic talks in Rome and Muscat.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be finalized within days, highlighting significant progress in talks mediated by Oman. Iranian officials continue negotiations with Muscat to establish secure maritime lanes, while seeking traffic management authority.

Simultaneously, Tehran warned it would launch retaliatory strikes against energy infrastructure in neighboring Gulf states if Washington carries out further military action. Following the threat, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi initiated urgent consultations with Saudi Arabian representatives.

Elsewhere in the region, a strike sank an Indian merchant vessel off the Yemeni coast. In Rome, Lebanese and Israeli delegations convened for a seventh round of talks, as United Nations officials reported that approximately 800,000 displaced civilians have started returning to southern Lebanon.
