US President Donald Trump expressed optimism for a swift deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran conditioned any reopening on the lifting of US sanctions.

US President Donald Trump stated that negotiations mediated by Oman could lead to reopening the Strait of Hormuz "very soon," suggesting a deal could emerge shortly. However, Trump warned that Iran faces severe military strikes if the waterway remains shut.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei confirmed a technical agreement with Oman regarding a safe navigation map. Nevertheless, Tehran insisted the strategic waterway "will not be opened" until Washington lifts port blockades and oil sanctions, unfreezes Iranian assets, and halts military operations. Commanders from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also promised "strategic surprises," maintaining that military forces will not yield to American pressure.
