US and Iran exchange fire as Washington threatens further strikes

Military tensions rise after the US and Iran exchange fire near Bandar Abbas, with Washington warning of further strikes and Tehran promising a decisive response.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated following the first military exchange between the two nations in a month. Explosions were reported near the Iranian coastal cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik.
US President Donald Trump cautioned that additional military action could follow if Tehran chooses to retaliate, claiming that Iranian leadership is seeking a diplomatic agreement. In response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that while his country does not seek a wider war, Tehran will "respond decisively to aggressors."
Despite the strikes, Iranian defense authorities stated their naval assets remain operational. Formal diplomatic talks remain suspended as both nations maintain a heightened state of military alert.
