US and Iran exchange fire as Trump warns of further strikes

US President Donald Trump threatened further strikes against Iran following an exchange of fire near coastal cities, while Tehran warned it will respond to aggressors.
United States President Donald Trump has threatened additional military strikes against Iran following a recent exchange of fire, marking the first direct clash between the two nations in a month. Explosions were reported near the southern coastal cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik.
Trump asserted that Iranian officials are "begging" for a diplomatic deal with Washington. In response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran does not seek conflict, but warned that his government will "decisively respond to aggressors" if targeted. Despite the escalating rhetoric and military actions, backchannel diplomatic communications between Washington and Tehran reportedly continue to function.
