US and Danish authorities reveal Russian assassination and sabotage plots
US prosecutors charged five alleged Russian agents over murder plots, as Denmark reported Russian sabotage targeting its defense industry.
United States federal prosecutors have unsealed an indictment charging five alleged Russian intelligence agents with conspiring to carry out Kremlin-backed assassinations and sabotage across Europe and North America. According to the Department of Justice, the network recruited and paid operatives to surveil and eliminate individuals perceived as supporting Ukraine. The charges detail several incidents, including a June 2024 attack in Prague, though all five suspects currently remain at large.
Simultaneously, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service reported that Russian operatives have conducted targeted sabotage against Danish defense companies supplying military hardware to Kyiv. Danish officials described the operations as a significant escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare strategy intended to undermine Western military assistance to Ukraine.
