Ukraine expands drone operations as Zelensky warns on Russian airspace safety

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Russian airspace is no longer safe for commercial operators, cautioning international airlines and insurers against using major Russian aviation hubs as long-range drone strikes expand. While Zelensky clarified that Ukrainian forces will not target civilian aircraft, he emphasized that Russian airspace is increasingly hazardous due to ongoing military operations.

Concurrently, heavy combat persists along the front lines, where Ukrainian forces are striving to blunt Russian advances while minimizing personnel casualties amid acute manpower shortages. Both belligerents are progressively relying on long-range attack drones and cruise missiles. However, Ukrainian defense capabilities remain constrained by a critical shortage of air defense interceptor missiles required to counter Russian aerial bombardment.
