Cross-border attacks escalated between Russia and Ukraine, while U.S.-led NATO forces conducted military drills near Kaliningrad.

Cross-border strikes between Ukraine and Russia intensified overnight, following recent diplomatic discussions in Kyiv. Russian forces launched ballistic missiles at the Ukrainian capital, killing at least two people and injuring six others. The attack followed earlier drone strikes that damaged a manufacturing facility in northern Ukraine.

In response, Ukrainian drones targeted industrial and energy sites across Russia's Saratov and Samara regions. Russian air defense intercepted multiple drones, though a fire subsequently erupted at the Kuibyshev oil refinery.

Meanwhile, NATO forces conducted military operations near Russia's Kaliningrad region. Led by the United States, the exercises involved Polish ground units alongside fighter jets and surveillance aircraft from Norway and the U.S. NATO officials defended the activity, reiterating that the alliance maintains a defensive posture focused on readiness.
