Trump urges Ukraine and Russia toward peace deal before winter

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks an agreement to end the war in Ukraine, following a phone conversation between the two leaders. Speaking after a subsequent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump urged both nations to negotiate a resolution before winter, stating, "if Zelensky wants an agreement, that would be great."

Zelensky described his discussions with Trump as "positive and productive," noting that both Kyiv and Washington share the goal of halting Russian aggression in the coming months. While both leaders expressed optimism regarding a diplomatic settlement, specific terms for a potential peace framework remain undisclosed.
