Trump urges Ukraine and Russia toward peace deal before winter

US President Donald Trump stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks a negotiated settlement to end the war in Ukraine, following a telephone conversation between the two leaders. Trump urged both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to reach an agreement before winter, emphasizing that both sides must enter negotiations.

Zelensky characterized his recent discussion with Trump as "positive and productive," expressing optimism that the conflict could conclude in the coming months. Both Washington and Kyiv expressed a shared objective of halting Russian aggression and ending hostilities prior to the winter season. However, neither side has released a formal framework or specific terms for potential peace negotiations.
