Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to secure peace deal before winter

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed optimism that Russian President Vladimir Putin is seeking a peace agreement to end the ongoing war in Ukraine. Following a phone call with Putin and a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump called on both leaders to negotiate a settlement prior to the winter season, stating, "if Zelensky wants a deal, it would be great."

Zelensky described his talks with Trump as productive, confirming that both Washington and Kyiv share the goal of stopping Russian hostilities before cold weather sets in. Despite the optimistic statements from both leaders, neither official disclosed concrete terms or specific proposals regarding potential peace negotiations with Moscow.
