Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to reach peace deal before winter

U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine before winter. Following a meeting with Zelensky and a prior phone call with Putin, Trump expressed confidence that the Russian leader is seeking a settlement, stating, "if Zelensky wants an agreement, that would be great."

Zelensky characterized the bilateral discussions as positive and productive, adding that both Kyiv and Washington share the objective of stopping Russian aggression in the coming months. Neither leader outlined specific conditions or proposed frameworks for prospective negotiations, and Moscow has not publicly confirmed new terms for potential talks.
