Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to reach peace deal before winter
US President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate a peace agreement before winter.
US President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin is seeking a peace agreement to end the war in Ukraine. Speaking following a phone call with Putin and a subsequent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump urged both leaders to negotiate terms before the winter season.
Zelensky characterized his discussion with Trump as "positive and productive," noting that both Washington and Kyiv share the goal of stopping the conflict in the coming months. Trump maintained that achieving a negotiated settlement remains possible, stating that Putin "wants a deal" if Ukraine is also willing to enter negotiations.
