Donald Trump indicated a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be reached imminently, as Oman mediates talks with Iran amid ongoing regional security developments.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be finalized imminently, following Omani-brokered negotiations with Tehran. Iranian officials confirmed discussions aimed at establishing secure transit corridors, while maintaining that Tehran seeks oversight of shipping traffic.

Concurrently, Tehran warned it would retaliate against energy infrastructure across Gulf nations if Washington executes further military strikes on Iranian installations. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi subsequently initiated diplomatic discussions with Saudi Arabian counterparts.

Elsewhere in the region, a merchant ship from India was reported hit and sunk near the coast of Yemen. In Rome, Lebanese and Israeli delegations convened for a seventh round of talks, as United Nations estimates indicate approximately 800,000 displaced civilians have started returning to southern Lebanon.
