US President Donald Trump indicated a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be imminent as Iran and Oman continue diplomatic negotiations.

US President Donald Trump stated that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be reached within days, citing progress in ongoing discussions between Iran and Oman. Iranian diplomats confirmed negotiations with Muscat focus on establishing secure maritime routes, though Tehran seeks traffic control over the waterway.

Security risks remain elevated across the region. Iran warned it would launch retaliatory strikes against Gulf energy infrastructure if Washington conducts further military attacks. In separate incidents, an Indian vessel was reportedly sunk near Yemen.

Meanwhile, Israeli and Lebanese representatives convened in Rome for a seventh round of talks, as the United Nations confirmed that roughly 800,000 displaced Lebanese citizens have started returning to southern Lebanon.
