U.S. President Donald Trump suggested a deal on the Strait of Hormuz could be reached soon, even as Iran denied direct negotiations with Washington.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be reached within days, while clarifying that Washington has no direct negotiations planned with Iran. Trump reiterated that Tehran must not acquire nuclear weapons and warned of military escalation if U.S. objectives are obstructed, adding that maritime access to Iran remains restricted absent a deal or surrender.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials confirmed ongoing talks with Oman centered on establishing secure commercial shipping channels. However, Tehran maintained that the waterway will remain restricted until the U.S. alters its policy, dismissing reports of direct talks with Washington. Commercial vessel traffic through the critical choke point dropped by an additional 20 percent over the past week following a recent ship strike.
