U.S. President Donald Trump indicated a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be reached soon, despite ongoing security threats and regional diplomatic talks.

U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be finalized within days, citing significant progress in Omani-mediated negotiations with Iran. Under the proposed arrangement, Tehran and Muscat aim to establish secure shipping corridors while allowing Iranian oversight over maritime traffic.

However, security risks persist across the region. Iran threatened to launch devastating retaliatory strikes against Gulf state energy infrastructure should the U.S. execute further military actions on Iranian targets, prompting Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to conduct urgent discussions with Saudi leadership.

Concurrently, an Indian vessel was struck and sunk off the coast of Yemen. In Rome, Israeli and Lebanese diplomats convened for a seventh round of talks, as approximately 800,000 displaced civilians begin returning to southern Lebanon.
