U.S. President Donald Trump indicated a Strait of Hormuz deal could be near, while Iran insists the passage will remain closed without changes in American policy.

United States President Donald Trump stated that an agreement to secure the Strait of Hormuz could be reached within days, asserting the waterway remains "open and operational." However, maritime traffic through the strategic passage fell by 20 percent last week following a recent vessel strike.

Tehran reiterated that no direct talks with Washington are scheduled, insisting the strait will remain closed until the United States alters its policy. Meanwhile, Iranian officials continue discussions with Oman regarding secure maritime transit routes.

In parallel Middle East developments, Hamas accepted the second phase of a U.S.-backed peace proposal. Israel maintained its requirement for the full disarmament of Hamas before any military withdrawal occurs.
