Trump rules out Iran talks as Gaza peace efforts stall

US President Donald Trump confirmed that Washington has no diplomatic negotiations scheduled with Iran, reiterating that Tehran will not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. Trump warned of potential military action should Iranian or Omani forces interfere with international shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, following reports of a vessel being targeted in the strategic waterway. In response, Iranian officials warned that their armed forces could switch to an offensive posture if diplomatic efforts fail completely.

Simultaneously, regional peace initiatives face continued deadlock. Although Hamas announced its acceptance of the second phase of a US-backed Gaza peace framework, Israeli leadership maintained that military forces will not pull back from the territory until Hamas is entirely disarmed.
